Want to live longer? Mediterranean style diet might be the answer. According to the latest research results, the style of Mediterranean eating pattern can help to extend the age of the population in the United States.

In research revealed that men who eat a pattern approaching the ideal pattern of eating Mediterranean style, the risk of death during the next five years to decrease to 21 percent, than men who eat a pattern far from the style of Mediterranean eating pattern. The same results can also be seen in the group of women.

“Results of this research provide strong evidence of benefits from the Mediterranean style of eating patterns, especially against the risk of death from a variety of factors, including disease related organ cancers and heart, in the midst of the U.S.,” said Dr Panagiota N Mitrou and their colleagues from the University of Cambridge, UK.

A number of other research related to the Mediterranean style of eating patterns show the benefits for health. Eating pattern or style of Mediterranean diet is much fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and less processed food animals, such as milk, cheese, butter, red meat is also a very small amount.

According to the researchers in the Archives of Internal Medicine, conducted research on eating patterns and mortality of 380,296 men and women aged 50-71 years who participated in the research program meal pattern and health of the National Health AARP.

From the two groups, both men and women, researchers found the risk of death due to various factors during the past five years indicates a low number for a group that followed the dietary pattern most closely with the ideal pattern of Mediterranean style.
